On the first day, you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and are taken to the hotel by one of our drivers. Depending on your arrival time, the hotel staff will spoil you with a warm meal. You go to bed and the next day, after breakfast, you will be greeted by your personal guide and given important information about the upcoming mountain climb.

In the morning, you will travel by minibus from the hotel to Machame Gate - the starting point of the hike. The journey takes about an hour. After the park administration has registered you, the adventure begins - the hike up Kilimanjaro begins.

Depending on your pace, the first day tour will take about 5 to 7 hours. You will walk through the rainforest and if you are lucky, you will even see small monkeys.

The hike from Machame Camp to Shira Camp takes you out of the dense rainforest and up into an open heath and moorland landscape, where the vegetation becomes sparser and the views of the summit become more impressive. The trail climbs steadily, leading over the vast and barren Shira Plateau with its bizarre rock formations and ending at Shira Camp, which offers spectacular views. The route is an important stage for altitude acclimation, as you gain significant altitude and the air becomes noticeably thinner, requiring slow and steady hiking.

The Shira Camp to Barranco Camp stage on Kilimanjaro is a spectacular but challenging hike covering around 10 kilometers. It starts on the Shira Plateau and heads towards the Lava Tower, an impressive rock formation at 4,600 meters, often used as an acclimatization point. After reaching the Lava Tower, there is a steep descent into the Barranco Valley, passing giant senecias and lobelias. The hike ends at Barranco Camp at around 3,950 meters, which is surrounded by impressive cliffs, including the famous Barranco Wall.

The stage from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp is a challenging but rewarding hike on Kilimanjaro. The day begins with a steep climb up the famous Barranco Wall, a rock face that requires surefootedness and some climbing skills, but also offers spectacular views. After overcoming the Barranco Wall, the route leads through undulating terrain with some ascents and descents. You will cross several small valleys and streams along the way. The trail finally ends at Karanga Camp, which is located at about 4,035 meters and offers a final acclimatization opportunity before the ascent to the higher Barafu Camp.

The stage from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp marks the last section before the final summit assault on Kilimanjaro. This part of the route is shorter, but steadily ascending and leads through a barren, alpine desert landscape. The path becomes increasingly rocky and challenging as the altitude becomes noticeable. During the ascent, there are wide views over the surrounding valleys and Mount Meru in the distance. Barafu Camp is located at about 4,673 meters and is the starting point for the nighttime ascent to Uhuru Peak. Here the mountaineers prepare for the upcoming, challenging summit stage.

Summit day

The climb from Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak begins in the dark and leads steeply over scree and ash, while the thin air makes the climb difficult. After hours of exertion, you reach Stella Point and enjoy the impressive sunrise. A final challenging section finally takes you to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After the summit celebration, you return to Barafu Camp before descending to Mweka Camp. This path first leads through barren landscapes and ends in the lush forests of Mweka Camp, where you end your trip in a relaxed atmosphere.

The descent from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate is the last section of the Kilimanjaro adventure. In the morning, you set off through dense, green forests that gradually replace the barren landscape of the higher elevations. The trail takes you over rolling hills and through shady paths as you enjoy the last few kilometers of descent. After several hours, you finally reach Mweka Gate, where you officially complete your successful climb and receive your well-deserved Kilimanjaro certification. Afterwards, you will be transferred by organized means to the Springlands Hotel in Moshi.

On the last day, one of our drivers will take you back to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) to begin your return journey.
